Surprise!!!

Last weekend we did a crazy thing and decided to fly home and surprise Lauren by showing up for her Jive concert. I'll never forget her face when she first saw us. It was so fun to surprise her. And we had a wonderful, but quick, weekend with family. On Sunday we celebrated one week late Easter with the annual jelly bean hunt. Don is such a great game maker-upper!! Here are just a few pictures from the trip. My sweet sister Heather picked us up from the airport and took us to Nielsen's Frozen Custard! She stayed with us while we went through a slight car crisis and finally ended up in a rental car on our way to Idaho. Thanks Heath, we love you!
Dillon was so excited to see Lauren on stage. And afterward he just followed her everywhere. He was her biggest fan. Fortunately Wesley conked out and slept through the second half of the show making it much more enjoyable for the rest of us! (Aaron is so good at getting him to sleep!)
We took a trip down to see Shoshone Falls--it was incredible--higher than I've seen it in years. Our new family picture at the top of our blog was taken there as well.
I grabbed the chance to get a 4 generation picture. Grandma Chandler joined us for the weekend. It's always so great to see her. I was also able to make a quick visit to see my grandparents. Unfortunately I forgot my camera.
On our way to the airport we met up with Brittany, Jason, Diana and Lindsay. We had a nice little brunch at IHOP. Thanks for making the effort to come see us! We love you all.

Bad case of bed head

We always love going into Wesley's room to get him out of his crib. He's so cute right when he wakes up. He always strains his little neck as far up as he can to see who is coming in to get him. A couple weeks ago I walked in and all I could see was a huge nest of hair sticking up just above the crib bumper. I took him downstairs and immediately pulled out the camera.
He was also missing a sock--that was some nap! Mommy's cell phone kept him distracted while I got some good shots of the disaster of a do.
Crazy hair, but man, I love that smile. We really like our little Wesley!

Labor of Love

Aaron's wonderful mother handmade Christmas stockings for all of her children. This last Christmas Aaron and I kept arguing about whether or not to continue that little tradition. It sounded like a lot of work to me. But Aaron didn't approve of any store bought stockings I found. So I finally caved in. Aaron's sisters are also working on stockings so they were my moral support. The fun part was that I didn't tell Aaron. I've been secretly working on Wesley's stocking for the past couple months. Last week I realized that if I hurried I could have it finished by Easter and that would be an excuse to let Aaron in on my little secret. So on Easter morning there was a suspicious package that read "To Daddy and Wesley." Aaron was very surprised to see the completed stocking for Wesley and another, not yet started, stocking for Dillon.
I'm pretty proud of myself for doing something so domestic. This has truly been a labor of love. I am not a seamstress and this is a lot of work. But I love my husband A LOT and this is one little way I can show him that. Happy Easter/Merry Christmas Aaron!

Easter celebrations

As mentioned before, we had lots of fun Easter celebrations. We were lucky enough to steal a picture with the Easter bunny. The Easter Bunny found a really great deal on Craiglist, so Dillon got a new bike for Easter! Although he was almost as excited for the bubble-tape.
Little family picture after attending Stake Conference on Easter Sunday.
The Van Dusens were nice enough to have us over for Easter dinner. It was really yummy.
Dillon insisted on taking his bike with us to Van Dusens so he could ride it with Max and Caleb. They were so cute racing down the sidewalk. We're really in denial that they are leaving us!

Easter Eggs

We definitely got our fill of eggs this year. We went to an egg hunt/carnival at the medical school and another at the church for playgroup. Our Easter weekend was so fun-filled we didn't get around to coloring our own eggs until Monday. So here are some fun pics.

Birthday fun

My birthday was this last week. I have the best husband in the world--he always gets the perfect gifts and plans the best things. On Wednesday night, he and Dillon hid my presents all around the house and led me on a little hunt. What cute boys! Aaron really is the best gift giver. He knows what I want before I do. And he's so patient when I open something up and say,"Oh (pause) that's (pause) fun." But without fail, I try it out and LOVE it! He's just the best. The morning of my birthday he arranged for a babysitter so we could go to the temple. Of course, I was a bum and thought, "You're going to make me wake up at 6:30 on my birthday?" But the second we got to the temple I realized it was the perfect gift. I love going to the temple with my husband! I was bummed I didn't have my camera with me to take a picture outside the temple together. So I made him pose with my gifts so I could get a picture of my handsome husband on my birthday.
That night I arranged for a last minute babysitter so I could drive into the city and pick up Aaron for dinner. We ate at a yummy German restaurant and, as always, it was just fun to be together.
On Friday we had some friends over for my favorite cake. I always like an excuse to host a little get-together.
All in all it was a wonderful birthday (that lasted 3 days)! Aaron, thank you for being the best husband I could ever ask for. I love you more than anything in the world! Happy Birthday to me!!!
