One Month Old

My sweet Todd is one month old.  (5 wks today)
He is the best baby.  He does a 3 hour - eat, wake sleep - schedule really well.  During his awake time he's usually totally content and just looks around, often smiling.  He rarely cries.  When he does, he sounds more like a baby lion cub than a human.  Instead, he whimpers when he's sad.  For the first couple weeks he had a hard time settling before midnight and would often be fussy in the late evening, but that's getting better and better.  He's normally in his bed by 10:00 or so and usually stays down until 2:00, then 5:00 and then 8:00.  It's a little different every night and some nights are better than others (like the times he's up every 1-2 hrs!!)  I'm much more functional when he goes 3-4 hr stretches.

Umbilical cord fell off on day 13 and acne showed up on day 15.  We have good and bad days with it and I've been putting hydrocortisone on to help the redness.  His little hands are always moving.  They are either stretched out or curled up, often clasping on to each other.  He likes them tucked up by his face.

Todd is quite the spitter, often coming out his nose.  It's sad.  And he has really loud poops and toots.  His older brothers think it's pretty funny :)  His daddy got first smiles out in the third week by clapping his little arms together.  At week four he started locking eyes to smile, especially with Mommy.  Just tonight he gave his parents a good smiling show before Daddy left town for work.  He's super floppy, always trying to be strong but then falling all over.  Aaron likes to sing "Floppy Todd" to the tune of Adam Sandlers "Sloppy Joe."

Whenever I look at him, particularly when he's eating, the word that comes to mind is PERFECT.  He really is just that and I can't believe how much I love this little guy.  Another boy has stolen my heart and I just can't get enough of him.  I'm constantly rubbing my face against his and kissing his little face.  I love my little Todd!

I've taken literally hundreds of pictures of his sweet face, but here are some favorites of his first month of life...

We love this boy!  So glad he joined our family.

Dillon is NINE!

My big boy is nine years old!

His birthday fell on a Saturday so we were able to have lots of fun!  We started with pancakes for breakfast and then let him open presents.

He was pretty excited about his new mountain bike!!
Aaron took the boys to the aquarium next and then shopped for new shoes.

That afternoon Dillon had a baseball game so we all went to cheer him on. We took cupcakes for the snack. (This was taken at a previous game)  This was his first year on a baseball team and we saw a lot of improvement over the season.  I'm so proud of him for trying something new. Plus, he got put on a Chicago team!!  Go White Sox!
After the game we went to Red Robin for dinner --first time out to dinner with our family of six!

He was pretty excited when they came out to sing to him.  Cute boy!
Dillon is great.  He has been so awesome with his new little brother.  He loves holding him and always talks about how cute he is.
If he's upset Dillon will try to calm him by singing "It's ok Todd" to the tune of It's a Small World.
Dillon was recently recognized by having his poetry published with other student writers and was given the opportunity to read his poem at a special reading.  Proud of our little writer.
Dillon likes dinosaurs, trains, Star Wars, reading (he'd read with his head lamp all night if I didn't make him go to sleep eventually), biking, riding his scooter, swimming and climbing trees.  He has the best laugh, which Wesley is really good at getting out!  I'm glad he's my #1 boy!  Love you Dillon!
