My little boy turned 4 this last weekend! When did he get so big?!!! We did most of the celebrating on Saturday with a trip to All Aboard Diner and some traditional cake, ice cream and presents at our place. Between parents, grandparents and friends, he got WAY too many new toys!
A pretty rough group picture, but you get the idea.
Happy Birthday to Dillon!
Lots of presents...and friends!
We surprised Dillon with a new train table all set up in his room! He was pretty excited!
The fun continues in Chicago. On Arbor Day the Morton Arboretum was free so we had to check it out, especially because it was over 80 degrees that day! Dillon loved it! He really liked it when I finally caved in and let him take off his shoes and drench himself in the little stream! He was soaked and we all got sunburned, but it was a great day!
This last week for playgroup we went to the Brookfield Zoo. A couple girls in the ward had free passes so we were all able to get in without having to pay! It was a little chilly, but we had a great time!
They had a special exhibit with life-like dinosaurs! They moved and roared and everything. They were so real looking, Dillon got a little scared.
He didn't like being that close to the dinosaur for the picture.
Max, Caleb, and Dillon posed for a picture in front of the zoo sign. They're great little friends.
Things have not slowed down around here for a while. We got home from our Idaho trip and the next day was a free day at the Museum of Science and Industry, so I had to take advantage of that. Fortunately, the backpack was already packed and ready for our outing I'd organized with our ward playgroup. These things are always more fun with friends. There were so many different things to see in the museum but of course Dillon immediately gravitated toward the trains.
We found "Dillon Heaven"---a room full of model trains!
Dillon loved the trolley too.
After seeing the museum we decided to make the most of our paid-for parking spot and walk across the street to the lake front. It was a beautiful day! Check out those blondies!
Dillon and his friend Bristol loved playing in the sand.
