Shedd Aquarium -- lightning speed

Last week there were a couple free days at the Shedd Aquarium so we decided to check it out.  It's Dillon's favorite.  My neighbor had to work but let her son tag along with us.  He was extremely helpful and grateful so I was happy to have him with us!

I've been before in the morning and the line is always really long on a free day, so I thought maybe we'd go around noon or 1:00 when morning goers were leaving and do a quick tour and get back on the road before afternoon traffic started.

We parked by Soldier Stadium (where the Bears play) and took a couple pictures on our way to the Shedd.

When we arrived there were still A LOT of people.  We got to stand in a long line on a very hot and humid afternoon.  Once inside it was wall to wall people too -- a little crazy -- but the boys were thrilled to be there.
The highlight was of course the sharks.  I actually love this whole tank.  It's beautiful!
They wouldn't let us use flash here, but the boys got to touch some fish as they swam by.
Keeping track of 4 boys in a huge crowd proved near impossible, so we saw as much as we could in an hour and called it good.  I took one more picture outside as we left.  Caleb was pretty tired and grumpy by then!
On the way back to the car we stopped to take a picture inside "the moon"
and also by the Field Museum with the skyline in the background.  Can you spot the Willis (Sears) tower?
 We love Chicago!
At the end of the day, I think it's worth it to pay to go to the Shedd Aquarium on a regular day, but we still had a fun adventure into the city with 4 boys and 1 momma!!
